Buffalo, New York - We still don't know if the Gus Macker basketball tournament will return to downtown Buffalo this summer.

But we did learn that officials with the Buffalo Police Athletic League expect the organization's executive board will take a vote on the Macker at their next meeting on March 4th.

We asked Scott McNeal, who is the Michigan - based organizer and owner of the tournament, if they could work with a decision in early March. "I will do whatever I can to still make it happen. And so yeah...I'm gonna work with...if March 4th is the date I'm gonna work with that. It's a little bit beyond what our time-frame has been but again to make sure I get that event, I will do that."

McNeal says it's still a 50 - 50 chance for the tournament as PAL officials try to work out funding issues for the popular event. They could try to help the city line up a sponsor for the Macker. City officials will only say that the tournament has not been cancelled.
