A power outage in Chautauqua County left hundreds of homes and businesses in the dark including a local hospital.
Lake Shore Health Care Center, and more than 3,500 residents in Silver Creek, Irving, and Forestville lost power after a transformer blew around 10:30pm Monday night.
That outage forced Lake Shore to divert ambulances to Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, which is about 20 minutes away.
But they say the rest of the facility wasn't impacted all that much.
"We were on back up power for our in patients and long term care patients," says Scott Butler, Divisional Director at Lake Shore Health Care Center. "So really they were safe and secure at all times. They had heat and electricity and were well taken care of."
The power was back up and running by about 10:30am Tuesday.
