FORT ERIE, ONT. - The bitterness has made way for brilliance as our harsh winter has created spectacular scenery along the Lake Erie shoreline. Ice caves have been attracting thousands of people to Crystal Beach to play in and photograph the iced-over artistry of Old Man Winter.

The attraction has also raised concerns among emergency officials in the Southern Ontario community. The ice is beginning to become unstable, and several cracks are showing up. Emergency crews arrived on the beach late Monday to rope off areas of concern and police issued a warning advising people to stay clear of the caves. Niagara police have also said two people have been injured in falls near the caves in the last two days.

According to the Fort Erie Times, town and emergency personnel will meet on Tuesday to discuss how to handle the situation, particularly with warmer temperatures and rain expected toward the end of the week.
