GENESEE COUNTY, NY – Here's a rather unusual update to a story from two weeks ago regarding the rescue of a hunter from swampland in Genesee County, and it involves a warm pair of boots.
Firefighters from the Town of Alabama Fire Department and other departments responded on November 24 to help in the rescue of a hunter who had been stuck in frigid waist-deep water in a marsh near the Iroquois Wildlife Refuge.
Eventually, the Erie County Air One helicopter helped in the rescue. As night came on, concerns about hypothermia for the hunter and one of the firefighters who was wearing a standard pair of boots began to take hold.
Turns out that the hunter, Colin Wilson, later contacted the Original Muck Boot Company of Illinois about the incident. Watch Ron Plants' story in the video player above to find out what happened next.
