BUFFALO, NY - Parents upset about a recent round of catholic school closings in Western New York are planning a rally.
They'll protest outside of Bishop Richard Malone's residence on Oakland Place in Buffalo.
In January, Malone announced that 10 diocesan elementary schools will close at the end of the school year because of declining enrollment and other geographic factors.
Parents and students from St. Mary of the Lake in Hamburg, St. Bernadette in Orchard Park, St. Francis of Assisi in Tonawanda, and St. Vincent DePaul and Annunciation in Elma will take part in what's described as a prayerful rally on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Last week, the pastor at St. Bernadette's went so far as to describe the school closing process as deceitful. The Bishop has not yet responded to those claims.
