LEROY, NY – Workers at a quarry in LeRoy came across an unusual scene Sunday morning. That's where they found a jeep that had been reported stolen in March half-submerged in the water at the bottom of the quarry.
Rescue crews from Batavia and surrounding areas reached the vehicle by boat to search it. No one was found inside.
The vehicle dropped about 80 feet from the cliff to the rocky shore below.
Workers at the quarry say water levels are very low, which is what led to the jeep's discovery.
The vehicle is expected to be towed from the water in the coming days.
