BUFFALO, NY - The deputy mayor of the city of Buffalo has decided to leave his position, Two On Your Side's Scott Brown has learned.

Steve Casey's last day at city hall will be August 1st.

Casey has worked with Buffalo mayor Byron Brown since Brown was a state senator.

Casey has accepted the position of C.E.O. of Seneca Place. That is a proposed $700 million mixed use development in West Seneca.

It is possible the development could include a new stadium for the Buffalo Bills.

The West Seneca project developer is Scott Congel. On Tuesday, he issued the following statement:

"We are thrilled to have a talent like Steve Casey join us to help drive this exciting project. It is unusual to find someone of his range of talents, as he has exhibited in his role as Deputy Mayor of the City of Buffalo. His management experience, understanding of governmental process, integrity and fiscal discipline will be important in our development project. In addition, Steve's commitment to the growth of the area fits perfectly with our economic growth and jobs creation goals for West Seneca."
