CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. - More than 100 people circled the track at Cheektowaga Central to raise money for the "Walk for Warriors" project.

Walkers raised about $8000. Half will go to the Wounded Warrior Project, a national veterans service organization that helps hundreds each year.

The rest of the money will go toward building the Iraq-Afghanistan Memorial, which will bear the names of 70 Western New York Service members killed while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.

The granite memorial is scheduled to be unveiled at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park in September.
