BUFFALO, NY - An Amherst woman who admitted taking money meant for military families will not do any jail time for the crime.
State Supreme Court Justice Penny Wolfgang Monday sentenced 24-year-old Shana King to five years probation and restitution.
Back in August, she admitted that between April and August of 2012, she stole $1,520 while volunteering for the New York State National Guard "Family Readiness Group" based out of the Connecticut Street Armory. The money is used by the Guard for such things as send-off parties and care packages sent to the troops during overseas deployments.
King admitted using the stolen cash to support a drug habit.
