BUFFALO, NY-The Diocese of Buffalo next week will formally present its anxiously awaited plan to reconfigure its Catholic elementary schools.

A news conference will take place Wednesday afternoon at Notre Dame Academy in South Buffalo.

There are currently 45 Catholic grade schools in Western New York. 2 On Your Side's Claudine Ewing reported last fall that number could drastically be reduced by the start of the next school year.

At the time, Catholic Schools Superintendent Carol Cimino said that something needed to be done given the state of the economy and the demographics of the area.

Buffalo Bishop Richard Malone and Cimino will both be on hand for Wednesday's announcement.
