BUFFALO, NY - A Buffalo Police officer received a head injury while investigating suspected drug activity on the city's East Side Saturday night.

Department spokesman Mike DeGeorge said the officer was hit in the head by one of the suspects using his fist, although the man was holding a knife. The incident happened near East Delavan and Courtland at 10:30 p.m.

The officer was treated and released from Erie County Medical Center.

Six people were arrested on a variety of charges including disorderly conduct,possession of drugs,obstruction and assaulting a police officer.
