San Francisco, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Deonte Burton poured in 31 points to carry the Nevada Wolf Pack to a 92-90 victory over the San Francisco Dons in a non-conference joust at Memorial Gymnasium.
Burton hit 11-of-20 shots from the field, including 4-of-8 from beyond the arc for Nevada (2-1). Michael Perez and Cole Huff each added 15 points and Jerry Evans Jr. chipped in 11 off the bench.
Cody Doolin scored a game-high 33 points on 12-of-17 shooting for San Francisco (2-1), which also got 10 points apiece from Matt Glover and Mark Tollefsen.
Despite allowing Nevada to shoot 57.1 percent from the field in the first half, the Dons, who shot 46.9 percent from the field themselves, managed a 43-41 lead at intermission thanks to a 6-of-14 effort from 3-point range.
The Wolf Pack led by as many as 11 points in the second half by netting 56.7 percent of their shots from the floor, including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc. The Dons cut their deficit to a single point with 42 seconds remaining but could not pull themselves ahead.
San Francisco lost despite owning a 20-12 edge in points off turnovers.
