BUFFALO, NY - Buffalo Niagara Film Commission says attracting more movies to the region comes down to what are called "production tax credits." Right now, the credit stands at 30 percent statewide.
But film studios could get a 10 percent tax break on top of this for movies that are located here and that begin or are completed in 2015. The tax credits last through 2019.
In theaters today is The Best Man Holiday, part of which was shot at Ralph Wilson Stadium in May. The movie stars Terrance Howard and Taye Diggs. The script called for actors to be at a New York Giants game, but the stadium was actually the Ralph.
That movie didn't get the added tax break. However, according to the film commission, production companies will be looking for it next year and may want to come to Western New York.
