BUFFALO, NY - Buffalo Firefighters spent a couple hours Thursday night getting a fire under control near near Inwood Place in the city's Delaware District. That's across Delaware Avenue from Forest Lawn Cemetary.

At one point the fire reached a second alarm.

Bob Murphy, the man living in the apartment where the fire started, told 2 On Your Side, the fire started when he flicked a cigarette and it started to smoulder on a bed.

Murphy says he tried to put the fire out with a small bowl of water, but the fire became more intense.

He and a downstairs neighbor were home, but they both got out safely.

There's no word on any injuries or damage amount at this time.
