BUFFALO, NY - Two of Lockport's finest are giving back to the people and the hospital that saved their lives ten years ago. Chief Larry Eggert and Officer Steven Ritchie were both shot in the line of duty back in 2003. Today they are both back at work and still thanking the doctors and nurses at Erie County Medical Center.

Both men nearly died on that cold winter night. Both men were rushed to ECMC where they met up with healthcare professionals that saved them. After treatment and rehab, both men went back to doing to job they loved. Every year since the shooting, both Eggert and Ritchie have taken part, in some way, in ECMC's 5-K Run for Heroes. This year, they will be there too.

The race is Saturday, September 28th at Delaware Park. The event begins at 8:00 a.m. Registration wraps up Friday the 27th.
