LOCKPORT, N.Y. -- It's a first in community theater here.

Thursday nightwas opening night for "Les Miserables" at the legendary Palace Theatre in Lockport.

The Palace is the first theater at its level to do the show, which had a long run on Broadway and is based in a French historical novel from the 19th century.

Shows are Thursday and Saturday nights at7:30and Sunday afternoons at 3:00 through the end of the month.
