San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Jamaal Franklin registered a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds as the San Diego State Aztecs held off the Air Force Falcons for a 58-51 decision in a Mountain West Conference tilt at Viejas Arena.
J.J. O'Brien also scored 12 points for SDSU (21-8, 9-6 MWC) as it won for the third time in four games. Xavier Thames added 11 points and Chase Tapley contributed 10.
Michael Lyons netted 10 points for Air Force (16-12, 7-8), but none of his teammates joined him in double-figures.
The Aztecs made just 31 percent of their field goal attempts in the opening 20 minutes, however they were still able to take a 23-18 lead into halftime after Air Force shot 25 percent from the floor.
SDSU created some distance on the scoreboard in the second stanza, going ahead by as many as 14 before arriving at the seven-point win. The Aztecs went 11- of-30 from the field and 12-of-23 at the free-throw line while limiting the Falcons to 10-of-24 shooting from the floor over the final 20 minutes.
SDSU held a sizeable, 45-32 edge in the rebounding battle.
