Kent, OH (Sports Network) - Randal Holt scored 28 points to lead the Kent State Golden Flashes over the Buffalo Bulls for an 83-31 overtime win in Mid- American Conference action at the M.A.C. Center.
Holt knocked down 6-of-9 shots from beyond the arc for the Golden Flashes (16-12, 6-7 MAC), who have won two in a row and four of their last five. Darren Goodson hit a trio of 3-pointers while scoring 18 points which he accompanied with seven rebounds. Chris Evans added 14 points and eight rebounds while Melvin Tabb contributed 12 points off the bench before fouling out in just 14 minutes of play.
Javon McCrea tallied 32 points for the Bulls (11-17, 6-7) while also pulling down 15 rebounds to complete a magnificent double-double performance. To add to his already great game, McCrea recorded eight blocks. Will Regan and Jarryn Skeete added 14 points each while Cameron Downing netted 13 points off the bench before also fouling out but in 19 minutes of play. The Bulls have dropped back to back games after a three-game win streak.
In the first half, Buffalo shot 57.1 percent from the field with 15 points and four blocks from McCrea. The Bulls led, 41-32, at halftime.
The Golden Flashes outrebounded the Bulls, 25-14, and had three players score in double-figures. Kent State outscored Buffalo, 41-32, and two made free- throws by Holt with 1:22 left tied the game at 73-73 where it would stay until the end of regulation.
It was back and forth in overtime until Holt hit a 3-pointer to put Kent State up 81-76 with 1:19 left. The Bulls answered back quickly as Tony Watson hit a 3-pointer for the Bulls with 19 seconds left. The game was tied 81-81 before Evans sank the game-winning shot as time expired.
Kent State drained 11 attempts from 3-point range which was the only significant edge the Golden Flashes earned aside from a 46-38 rebounding advantage.
