BUFFALO, NY-- A day after a 2-1 home loss to Winnipeg, head coach Lindy Ruff admits that it's time to look at changing his line-up.

Ruff told 2-On-Your-Side's Adam Benigni that the results on the ice suggest the need for change.

"If we're going to be like this. It isn't working the way we're going. The indication today is we're going to have to try some things."

Earlier in the day, the Sabres waived forward Cody McCormick. Ruff said that mainly had to do with the fact he felt they had enough toughness with Pat Kaleta and John Scott in the line-up.

There is speculation the Sabres will look to bring center Kevin Porter up from Rochester. Porter has 15 goals and 29 assists for 44 points in 48 games with the Amerks this season. The open roster spot also helps to clear the way for GM DarcyRegier to make a trade.

Ruff said the hockey department is "talking about" options.

Sabre players held a 15-minute closed door meeting following Tuesday night's loss to Winnipeg. Benigni asked Ruff if he sensed a change in his players as they took the ice for practice Wednesday.

"I'd like to say yes. Ialways feel that your answer is the next time you hit the ice. Those player meetings, I've been in a lot of them as a player. There is a lot of confronting eachother with play which is good... but the answer has to come on the ice."

The Sabres have dropped four of their last five games. They have fallen into 13th place in the Eastern Conference Standings after 17 games.

The Sabres next play at Toronto on Thursdaynight.
