AMHERST, N.Y.- Depew traveled to Amherst on Tuesday night for a rematch between the two best ECIC IIIteams. Amherst came away with its second win this season against Depew, 58-39.

Depew had trouble scoring against the Tigers, but it wasn't offensive woes by the Wildcats as much as it was great defense by the Tigers. Amherst Head Coach Chris Kensy said " I thought we played very sound team defense tonight and we played together, it wasn't our best offensive game, but our defense was great. We got a lot of deflections and steals and we attacked the basket".

Senior guard # 4 Johnathan Belton led all scorers with 21 points for the Amherst Tigers, and Senior center # 40 Alex Turecki chipped in with 11. Depew Head Coach Larry Jones had this to say about Belton and the Tigers, "They kicked our butts, Belton is the best player in the league, and they showed they're the best team in ECIC III by far". Sophomore forward # 11 Johan Lopez added 12 points for the Depew Wildcats, as they drop to 10-7 overall, and 8-4 in the league.

Amherst improves to 15-1 overall, and 12-0 in ECIC III play. Amherst will have a quick turn around and host Pioneer on Wednesday at 7:30 PM.
