CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y.-Amherst beat Maryvale 53-48 Friday night on the Flyers home court.

This matchup has a little more spice than most games. Mark Kensy coaches the Flyers and his son Chris coaches the Tigers. Chris told Two On Your Side's Stu Boyar "playing against my dad, and my brother (Garrett is on the staff at Maryvale) and winning is a ton of weight off my shoulders. Its the first time we've won at Maryvale since I've been coaching. Its definitely nice. Obviously my dad was instrumental in my basketball and coaching and it was nice to get a victory against the person who taught you so much. Without him it would be more challenging. I owe a lot to him but it is definitely nice to beat him."

Chris Kensy is in his fourth season as the head coach at Amherst. Mark is in his 28th season at Maryvale. Its the first time in ten years that Amherst has won at Maryvale.

Chris Kensy told Stu " we really pulled together in the third quarter with a 19-9 run. We won all the 50-50 battles, on the boards, steals, loose balls. We did a good job in every phase of the game. We overcame any adversity,m a call going against us, nothing bothered us. It was a solid team victory."

For Amherst the top scorer was # 40 Alex Turecki who finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Two other seniors had strong games as well, # 2 Dion Lewis had 14 points and five rebounds and Kensy went out of his way to praise the contributions of # 4 Johnathan Belton who finished with six points, 12 assists and ten rebounds.
