Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Kellen Thornton and Patrick Miller each scored 17 points to lead the Tennessee State Tigers over the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, 66-60, in an Ohio Valley Conference matchup at Gentry Complex.
Jordan Cyphers added 10 points and M.J. Rhett pulled down 10 rebounds for the Tigers (12-7 6-0 OVC), who have won seven straight games.
Ronnie Boggs led the Gamecocks (12-6, 4-3) with 17 points, while Tarvin Gaines finished with 14 points and Brian Williams chipped in with 10 points.
TSU shot 55 percent from the field in the first half, while holding the Gamecocks to just 36.4 percent. The Tigers ended the half on a 22-9 run and took a 33-22 lead into halftime.
The Gamecocks started the second half off strong and took a 43-42 lead following a 21-9 run. TSU responded with a surge of its own, pushing the score to 53-45 in its favor. JSU again fought back and was able to cut its deficit to just one with three minutes to play, but it was not able to take the lead, as the Tigers held on for the victory and remained perfect in conference play.
TSU held the rebounding advantage over JSU, 30-22.
