WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y.-In the championship of the annual Jolly Boys tournament at Williamsville South High School the visiting Amherst Tigers beat the Billies 72-64.

The Tigers # 4 Jonathan Belton was the game's key player. He led all scorers with 20 points and according toe Williamsville South coach Gabe Michael he was the difference in the game. Michael told Two On Your Side's Stu Boyar "I thought we competed. Belton was excellent. He was the difference tonight. We did a nice job with their pressure but in the end the best player took over the game."

Amherst coach Chris Kensy told Stu "we did an excellent job of playing team basketball. We had a lot of different stars coming off the bench. Every time South made a run we countered. We played good aggressive team basketball."

Amherst's # 40 Alex Turecki had 19 points. For South # 10 Sam Castronova was the top scorer with 19.

With the win Amherst improves to 7-1 on the season. The Tigers play Lake Shore next Thursday. The Billies drop to 6-2 on the season. They play at West Seneca East next Thursday night.
