BUFFALO, N.Y.-Here are Adam Benigni's three keys to the Bills loss to the Colts Sunday in Indianapolis.

First, special teams. For the second straight week the Billsgave up a kick return for a touchdown. Last week against the dolphins it was on a kickoff and Sunday it was on a punt return. T-Y Hilton took one back 75-yards to give the Colts the early 7-0 lead.

Number two was the defense. On the upside I thought they did a better job of putting pressure on the quarterback. They sacked Andrew Luck four times. Mario Williams had three of those sacks. However the statistic that goes a long way toward telling the story is third down. The Colts converted 8 of 16 third downs including four on the drive in the third quarter that gave them a 20-6 lead.

The undisputed top reason was the offense and that points directly to head coach Chan Gailey. I thought he called a very poor game.Thedecision to not try a 52-yard field goal in the
first half indoors when points are at a premium boggles the
mind. Add to that the clock management at the
end of the first half. C-J Spiller ran for 107-yards.
Stevie Johnson had 106 receiving yards and made
one of the great plays you'll ever see forcing and recovering
a fumble late after a Ryan Fitzpatrick interception that kept the
Bills chances alive late, but just 13-points against a sub-par defense doesn't cut it and for all intents and purposes cost the Bills their shot at the playoffs.
