RANSOMVILLE, N.Y. -- Niagara County Sheriff's deputies received a call that a truck was speeding and swerving near Ridge Road and Townline Road late Thursday night and into Friday morning. Deputies were able to track down the truck and arrested 53-year-old Michael Johannes of Ransomville for driving while intoxicated.
Investigators say Johannes had a blood alcohol content of .15 and failed mulitiple field sobriety tests. While it's unclear where he was going or where he was headed, we do know that Johannes lives less than a 2 miles from where he was stopped.
Investigators confirm that Johannes is the superintendent for buildings and grounds at the Orleans Niagara BOCES where he's worked for more than 5 years. A source tells Channel 2 that Johannes was assigned the Dodge Ram pickup truck as a take home vehicle that sources say he used for personal reasons as well.
Orleans-Niagara BOCES released a statement saying "Pending the outcome of an investigation... The employee is not being permitted to operate a BOCES vehicle."
