The Green Day frontman and the pop/jazz chanteuse team up with impressive results.
Unrequited love, abandonment, murder, dying parents — all are the stuff of sweet harmony on Foreverly (* * * ½ out of four), a collaboration between Billie Joe Armstrong and Norah Jones.
Essentially a remake of the Everly Brothers' 1958 foray Songs Our Daddy Taught Us,Foreverly pairs two of our more eclectic pop stars on stark tunes. While their tender harmonies are modeled on the Everlys', the blending of genetically unrelated voices lends an added frisson.

Jones brings a nuanced sensuality to material from the pining Oh So Many Years to the chilling Down In the Willow Garden. Green Day's frontman accommodates her deceptively soft touch with impressive reserve. Their shared restraint makes Foreverly's many dark shadows all the more haunting.
