LEWISTON, N.Y. - David Chung of Fayetteville, North Carolina has won the 52nd Porter Cup at the Niagara Falls Country Club.   Chung won by three stokes at 13-under.

After the win Chung told Stu Boyar from WGRZ-TV and wgrz.com  "Its awesome. Its surreal. I mean its such an honor and privilege to win this tournament. Its probably the best in amateur golf, its kind of like our Masters and so its a great feeling to win this tournament."

Gavin Hall of Pittsford and Peter Uhilein of Orlando, Florida finished tied for second at 10-under.

Chung fired a 5-under 65 in the final round after entering the day in a three-way tie for the lead with Russell Henley, and Williamsville's Jake Katz.

Katz had the chance to make history by becoming the first local player to win the Porter Cup since Ward Wettlaufer of Buffalo back in 1965.   After shooting 64 and 65 in the second and third rounds, Katz shot a 4-over 74 in the final round and wound up finishing tied for 10th at 4-under. After the round Katz told Stu Boyar from WGRZ-TV and wgrz.com  "I would like to have been more competitive coming down the stretch but it was a great learning experience and hopefully I can use this to my advantage coming up in my next tournaments and next year's Porter Cup."

Russell Henley appeared to be the favorite heading into the final round.   He was coming off a 16th place finish at the U.S. Open this year.  Henley shot a 1-under 69 and finished four shots back at 9-under.
