It's the game that's been hyped up and speculated on for months, either as a huge opportunity for Toronto, or a Buffalo fans worst nightmare. But, it's almost here. Sunday the Buffalo Bills will play the first regular season NFL game in Toronto and there are still thousands of seats left. 2 On Your Side's Kristin Donnelly asks, "You still expect to sell out?" "Yes," says Anthony Antonelli, Senior Marketing Director with Rogers Communications, "What I'm saying is we're working towards a sellout. Obviously, we hope for one and obviously its getting very close with just a few days left." This summer, several Canadian newspapers reported Rogers lost millions on the Bills pre-season game in Toronto and gave away as many as 17,000 tickets. "I'm not going to comment on the numbers," says Antonelli, "We did give away some tickets to the United Way and the Canadian Military." "Have you given tickets away this time?" asks Kristin Donnelly. "No, no we haven't." Rob Longley, Toronto Sun, Sports Reporter says, "It's quite embarrassing that they're this close to the game and still have these many seats to get rid of." Longley believes the problem isn't that Toronto fans aren't interested. He says it's the high price of the tickets. "I think their hopes were that it would be a sellout and a very quick sellout but, the problem was they really mismanaged the public's willingness to spend the kind of money for tickets and it's really backfired and blown up in their face a little," Longley says. Right on the Bills in Toronto website we found 10 seats together (Monday afternoon) in the upper deck- for $250 dollars apiece. But even scalpers have dropped prices. StubHub has one listing as low as $60 And you can score tickets on Craig's List for as low as $60 dollars.
Rogers Communications expects a crowd of more than 50,000 fans to be at the game this Sunday.
