Griffs McGrane On World Cup Final

BUFFALO, N.Y.-Throughout the World Cup Canisius College men's coach Dermot McGrane has provided great insight and analysis for WGRZ-TV and

McGrane spoke with Two On Your Side's Stu Boyar Saturday afternoon about the championship match between Germany and Argentina. McGrane has been impressed with Germany throughout the tournament. He told Stu "Their ball movement is great and they create a lot of chances and they've got a number of players who can score. Contrast that with Argentina who has been a lot more defensive minded with the injuries to Aguilar and DiMaria you're basically relying on Messi going forward. They haven't given up many goals they've been very compact very good defensively so I think you're going to see Argentina sit in a lot more and play for a counter attack and I think you'll see Germany play their normal game."

Germany is coming a 7-1 win over Brazil in the semifinals. Argentina had to go to penalties to beat the Netherlands and move into the championship match. McGrane said that could favor Germany. "I think that Germany physically will be in a lot better than Argentina. Their game essentially was over after 25 minutes. They got to rest players, they had an easy final 65 as compared to Argentina playing 120 minutes and going through penalties."

Stu asked the Canisius head coach to pick a winner. McGrane said "I've got to with Germany. Its definitely not going to be seven goals but I will take Germany, I'm going to go 3-1."
