Sabres center Jack Eichel is set to make his 2016-17 home debut for the Sabres Thursday night against the New York Rangers.
Eichel had 1g,1a Tuesday night as part of a 5-4 win at Ottawa. It was Eichel's first game of the season after he suffered a high ankle sprain in practice on the eve of the season opener.
"I'm starting to build some confidence off of it. It was nice to score one in that fashion and just help the team."
Eichel's return immediately helped the Sabres who have struggled to score in his absence all season. The five goals against the Senators where the second highest total in a single game to this point in the season. Three of the goals, including Eichel's, were on the power play.
Now Eichel is set to play on home ice for the first time this season.
"People should be excited about our team and where we're heading.,, Just excited about the opportunity to play in front of the home crowd. My first time of the year so looking forward to it.. Hopefully we can get a win. This is a building that we want to make it a tough one to come into for opposing teams."
