Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Vinny Prospal scored with just 24.7 seconds to
play as the Columbus Blue Jackets took a 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings on
Thursday.
Derek Dorsett posted a goal and an assist while R.J. Umberger also scored for
the Blue Jackets, who snapped a three-game losing streak and a six-game road
skid. Sergei Bobrovsky made 28 saves in the win.
Columbus, though, did lose center Artem Anisimov to a possible head injury in
the game after he was taken off on a stretcher following his head hitting the
ice.
On the play early in the second period, Anisimov tripped over Detroit's Ian
White and fell to the ice. As he was falling, Detroit's Kyle Quincey also fell
to the ice and his elbow came down on the head of Anisimov. After several
minutes on the ground, he was taken into the locker room on a stretcher.
It was later announced that he was awake and responsive and had been taken to
Detroit Medical Center.
Damien Brunner and Valtteri Filppula both scored for the Red Wings, who have
dropped their past five games. Jimmy Howard gave up all three goals on 24
shots.
