Colorado Springs, CO (Sports Network) - Scott Gordon will once again be the
head coach for the United States' men's hockey team at the IIHF World
Championship next month.
Gordon, the former head coach of the New York Islanders and currently an
assistant with the Toronto Maple Leafs, has led the Americans at each of the
last two tournaments. The U.S. was a quarterfinal loser to the Czech Republic
last year and failed to advance past the qualifying round in 2010.
Team USA last earned a world championship medal in 2004, taking a bronze.
The Americans will open this year's tournament on May 4 against France in
Helsinki, Finland.
