Florham Park, NJ (Sports Network) - The New York Jets signed defensive tackle
Daniel Muir while placing linebacker Josh Mauga on injured reserve Wednesday.
Muir is a five-year NFL veteran who started 26 games over three seasons with
Indianapolis from 2009-11. The 29-year-old was brought in with the Jets
dealing with injuries to both starting nose tackle Sione Pouha (back) and
backup Kenrick Ellis (knee).
"He's a former Colt, a former Packer, a guy that has some experience," said
Jets head coach Rex Ryan. "We're excited to have him."
Muir broke into the league with Green Bay in 2007 and re-joined the Packers
this spring, but was released during final roster cuts.
Mauga, one of New York's top special teams players, tore his pectorals during
the team's 23-17 loss to Houston on Monday.
