Alameda, CA (Sports Network) - The Oakland Raiders have reportedly landed on
Dennis Allen as their new head coach.
Allen, who spent this season as defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos,
has reached an agreement to coach the Raiders, FoxSports.com reported Tuesday
night.
The Raiders need a replacement for Hue Jackson, who was fired two weeks ago
after just one season as head coach.
Allen was named defensive coordinator of the Broncos on January 24, 2011. He
had been with the New Orleans Saints the previous five seasons, serving as
assistant defensive line coach from 2006-07 and as the secondary coach from
2008-10.
The Broncos had the NFL's 20th-ranked defense during the regular season and
won the AFC West division at 8-8. They beat Pittsburgh in the wild card round
but lost to New England in the divisional round of the playoffs.
New Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie fired Jackson soon after he was
hired.
