New York, NY (Sports Network) - WNBA MVP Tamika Catchings of Indiana and
Phoenix guard Diana Taurasi were again among the All-WNBA First-Team
selections for 2011.
Catchings, chosen as the league's MVP for the first time in her storied
career, led all vote-getters with 187 points and was a First-Team pick for the
sixth time. The Fever forward has also been selected for Second-Team honors on
three occasions in her brilliant 10-year career.
Taurasi, the WNBA's scoring champion for a fourth straight year, garnered
First-Team honors for a seventh time and led all guards in the balloting with
168 points.
Joining Catchings and Taurasi on this year's First-Team were Atlanta forward
Angel McCoughtry, Connecticut center Tina Charles and Minnesota guard Lindsay
Whalen. Whalen was selected to the top unit for a second time, while Charles
and McCoughtry each garnered their initial First-Team honors.
The All-WNBA Second-Team is comprised of forwards Penny Taylor of Phoenix and
Seimone Augustus of Minnesota, Chicago center Sylvia Fowles and guards Sue
Bird of Seattle and Cappie Pondexter of New York.
