Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - The Seattle Mariners have acquired right-
handed pitcher Chance Ruffin from the Detroit Tigers to complete the July 30
trade for pitchers Doug Fister and David Pauley.
Seattle had previously received outfielder Casper Wells, pitcher Charlie
Furbush and infielder Francisco Martinez.
Ruffin, 22, made his major league debut on July 25 and has posted a 4.91 ERA
in a pair of relief appearances with the Tigers.
A supplemental first round pick -- 48th overall -- in the 2010 June draft,
Ruffin notched a 1.84 ERA in 13 appearances with Triple-A Toledo this season
and converted 9-of-10 save opportunities.
To clear room on the active roster, the Mariners designated pitcher Aaron
Laffey for assignment.
