Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma also has another title that carries some weight. He is head coach for Team USA at the Sochi Olympics and says he still hasn't decided on his starting goaltender.
He'll continue to evaluate as the Sabres host the Penguins Wendesday night at First Niagara Center.
That competition is essentially down to the Sabres Ryan Miller, who's future remains uncertain in Buffalo, and Jonathan Quick of the LA Kings.
Bylsma wasn't tipping his hand when he spoke with reporters on Tuesday.
"I am not going to chose that question and today to break the news about the starting goaltender in the Olympics. That's the one really position that I am continuing to watch clips on and video of... So I'm watching them both and I'll get to see Ryan live tomorrow."
Detroit's Jimmy Howard is also on the USA roster, but the top candidates to start remain Miller and Quick.
