Sabres' Eichel may play in Ottawa

There's a chance Jack Eichel plays his first game of the season Tuesday at Ottawa.

BUFFALO, NY- There's a chance, and it sounds like a pretty good one, that Jack Eichel plays his first game of the season for the Sabres at Ottawa Tuesday night.

After practice Monday, Eichel said he is traveling with the team. "I feel good, no real restrictions."

Head coach Dan Bylsma said, "There's a chance Eichel could play tomorrow." Bylsma added, "He's responded well every step of the way. He looks really good." Bylsma said when Jack does return to the game action "you just think about the matchups, everyone's going to benefit from him getting back in the lineup."

Eichel skated with the first power play group and on his line with Evander Kane and Sam Reinhart.

Eichel injured his ankle October 12 one day before the regular season started.

The Sabres have struggled to score goals. He scored 24 goals in his rookie season.   The Sabres are at Ottawa Tuesday night. Face off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
