CHICAGO - David Farrance was the first Western New York native to hear his name called in this year's NHL Draft. He was selected by the Nashville Predators with the 93th overall pick in the third round.
The Victor defenseman played for his high school team (Victor High School) and the Syracuse Stars before joining the U.S. National Team Development program. Farrance was ranked the 46th-best skater in North America according to NHL Central Scouting. He'll now play for Boston University in the fall.
Farrance joins Scott Nichol, the Predators' Director of Player Development and also a Rochester native.
