Trump & Kelly representatives discussing possible Bills bid

BUFFALO, NY - Two On Your Side's Adam Benigni has learned that Jim Kelly's brother and attorney met with Donald Trump as recently as last week to discuss possibly joining Trump's bid to purchase the Buffalo Bills.

Benigni also learned at least five other groups have contacted the former Buffalo Bills quarterback about joining their bid to buy the Bills.

U.S. senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) said he spoke with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday morning about the Buffalo Bills ownership situation.

"He's totally on our side, " said Schumer at a news conference in Buffalo on Monday.

The estate of former owner Ralph C. Wilson Jr. will sell the team.

"There are many different people who want to buy the Bills," said Schumer. " I tell them I have one litmus test and that is who is going to keep the team here for a generation?"

The Bills have a ten year lease to play at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park. The lease with Erie County and New York State prevents the team from being moved until 2019.

"Perhaps the best way to get the Bills to stay here in Western New York for a generation is to have some plan for a stadium," said Schumer. "In place at the time the Bills are sold."

A Bills stadium group has been assembled to explore all options. It includes members from the Bills, Erie County and New York State. The group has held one informal meeting but has no firm date for a second meeting.

"The new stadium working group has not met... other than informal discussions between myself, the Bills and the state," said Mark Poloncarz (D - Erie County Executive). The state has taken it on its own to commence a review of potential (new Bills stadium) sites."
