Bills lose to N.Y. Jets

4th quarter- The Jets outscored the Bills 10-7 in the fourth quarter. Ryan FItzpatrick ate the Bills up. It was tough night for both Stephon Gilmore and Ron Darby. Fitzpatrick lit up the Bills for 374 yards passing. Fitzpatrick threw 1 TD pass and zero picks. He was not under pressure for most of the night.

The Jets also ran for 123 yards. Not a good night in any phase of the game for the Bills.

Yes they had some big down field passing plays, finally, but there was no consistent offense and the defense spent way too much time on the field. Its one thing if Tom Brady picks you apart but Ryan Fitzpatrick ?

The Bills ran for just 86 yards.

The Bills had one crazy series in the fourth quarter that made no sense. EJ Manuel came in and couldn't get a yard on fourth down. The Bills wasted a time out and then LeSean McCoy was stopped by the Jets on the 4th and 1 and the game was just about over. Yes Taylor hit Gillislee for that last touchdown but by then it was too little too late.

The bottom line is the Bills are 0-2 and deserve to be winless in the two games.

3rd Quarter:  The Bills took the lead at one point in the quarter but the Jets maintained their poise and regained the lead.

The Bills once again had success down field with Tyrod Taylor finding Greg Salas for a 71 yard one touchdown. Tyrod used his legs to put him in position to make the throw and Salas did the rest. The Bills defense scored a touchdown Preston Brown forced the fumble and Nickell Robey-Coleman picked it up and ran it in for the 36 yard touchdown, The Bills had a 24-20 lead but then the Jets as they have most of the night drove down the field to regain the lead on a Matt Forte touchdown run,

The Bills have just 48 yards rushing.  The Jets have scoring drives of 12,7,6,9 and 15 plays.  The Bills defense has had trouble getting off the field all night and for most of the night the Bills offense hasn't been able to stay on the field. The Bills appeared to have taken control of the game after the Robey-Coleman touchdown but the Jets responded with a 12 play scoring drive to end the third quarter.

2nd Quarter: The Bills finished the half with a long drive that results in a Dan Carpenter field goal. That brought the Bills to within 3 points at halftime 20-10.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is having a field day against the Buffalo defense. He's been spreading the ball around and the Jets have had the ball for most of the first half.  The Jets have had long scoring drives and have had the ball most of the first half.  Fitzpatrick is doing his best Tom Brady imitation. Fitzpatrick is 12 of 17 for 211 yards and a touchdown.  The Jets have had the ball for 19:49 of the first half the Bills just 10:11.

The Bills offense has gotten very little from the running game and Tyrod Taylor has had good pass protection, a pocket to throw from but the passing game hasn't been great.

Once again penalties have hurt the Bills. That always seems to be a theme and not a good one for the home team tonight.  The Bills have 5 penalties for 55 yards.

The Jets have 16 first downs the Bills 6.

1st Quarter-

The Bills for one play at least have rediscovered their down field passing game. Tyrod Taylor to Marquise Goodwin for 84 yards and the touchdown.

Other than that one play its been all Jets. They've had 2 long scoring drives that both resulted in field goals.

While its great the Bills have a long touchdown pass, in fact the longest at home in team history, the offense needs to spend more time on the field or the defense will never last.

The Jets had the Ball 13:35 of the 1st quarter while the Bills only had the ball for 1:25 of the quarter. The Bills lead the Jets 7-6 after the first quarter.

The Bills host the New York Jets in the second game of the season for both teams.

Both  teams come into the game with a record of 0-1.

Wide receiver Sammy Watkins is active for the Bills.

The other inactives for Buffalo are:

Jordan Gay

Cardale Jones

Jonathan Williams

Colt Anderson

Brandon Spikes

Patrick Lewis

Cordy Glenn

Bills Hall of Fame defensive end Bruce Smith will have his number 78 retired during a halftime ceremony.
