Vitale, a native of Wheaton, Illinois, was drafted in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Vitale, 21, is a 6-2, 225-pound product of Northwestern, where as a rookie fullback he earned second-team All-Big Ten honors with the Wildcats in 2015. In addition, Vitale led Northwestern with 33 receptions for 355 yards and four touchdowns.
The Bills claiming Vitale comes among several other team pre-season changes, including releasing LB Jamari Lattimore.
