ORCHARD PARK, N.Y.- The Buffalo Bills have added former New England Patriots linebackers coach Pepper Johnson and former Vikings linebackers coach Fred Pagac to their coaching staff.
Johnson becomes defensive line coach and Pagac becomes linebackers coach.
Johnson spent the last 14 years on the Patriots coaching staff, including stints as inside linebackers coach (2001-2003), defensive line coach (2004-2012) and linebackers coach (2013-2013).
Johnson was let go by the Patriots after the 2013 season.
Pagac spent seven seasons as Vikings linebackers coach (2006-2010, 2012-2013) and one season as defensive coordinator (2011).
Buffalo has had to make some changes to its defensive staff, after former defensive coordinator Mike Pettine took over as head coach for the Cleveland Browns.
The addition of Johnson and Pagac is welcome news for a young, inconsistent linebackers group, who ranked 28th against the run in 2013.
