TONAWANDA, N.Y.-Every time Jontay Walton scores she adds to her record setting numbers in the Monsignor Martin League.
Last week Walton became the Monsignor Martin Athletic Association's all time leading scorer in a game against Northing. The game was played at Holy Angels, where she played the first three years of her outstanding high school basketball career.
When Holy Angels closed Wilton had to find a new school to attend and a new basketball team to play for. She chose Cardinal Oar.
Wilton told Two On Your Side's St Boar about the night she broke the scoring record. " I was very nervous at first. It was a very special moment. Especially do it with my new school and at my old school, Holy Angels, with my new teammates. Its been a big pressure and its humbling, a humbling experience." Wilton broke the record set by Ran Stalely from St. Mary's of Lancaster.
Wilton said one reason she chose Oar was because she wanted to continue her Catholic education. As far as basketball she said she knew the coaches at Oar and loved them and that playing at Oar would prepare her better for the next level.
Wilton told St she has a number of schools interested in her in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts but she didn't want to say which ones.
Hawks head coach Dan Mycoderma was thrilled when Wilton decided to join his program. "We couldn't have been happier to welcome her into our family.at Oar.
