St. Joe's 29 South Park 12

St. Joe's and South Park opened the high school football season Friday night at All High Stadium. The Marauders came away with a 29-12 win on opening night.


BUFFALO, N.Y.- St. Joe's beat South Park 29-12 at All High Stadium in Buffalo in the season opener for both teams. 

The Sparks are the defending New York State Class A champions. 

The Marauders were led by sophomore quarterback Casey Kelly who was 15 of 22 for 129 yards passing. He did not have any touchdown passes and Kelly was picked off once. Kelly ran 5 times for 55 yards. He ran for a two point conversion and threw a 2 point conversion pass. Kelly is the younger brother of former St. Joe's star Chad Kelly and the nephew of Bills Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly.

Sophomore Jaden Lofton had 90 yards rushing on 9 carries and 2 touchdowns. Both TD's came in the fourth quarter. The first one was an 8 yard run and the second one was a 25 yard run.

St. Joe's was stingy on defense. The Sparks were 0 for 10 on third down conversions and 0 for 3 on 4th down conversions.
