Maple Grove Advances to State Title Game

Maple Grove earned a trip to the Carrier Dome with a 56-20 win over Sidney 56-20 in the Class D state semifinals.

CICERO, NY- Friday evening at Cicero North High School Maple Grove crushed Sidney 56-20 in the Class D semifinals. 

With the  win the Red Dragons move into next Friday's Class D championship game at 12 noon in the Carrier Dome. 

It was 42-6 at halftime so it wasn't the most difficult second half for the Warriors. 

Maple Grove finished with 374 rushing yards and 39 passing yards for a total of 411 yards of offense. Brad Benson said out the second half with an ankle injury but still led the Red Dragons in rushing with 18 carries for a 140 yards and 3 touchdowns. 

Nash Nelson filled once Benson went down and ran 13 times for 110 yards and also returned a touchdown for an interception.  Trevor Micek had 9 tackles for the Red Dragons. 

The Red Dragons held Sidney to 26 yards rushing. 

Maple Grove will play Cambridge from Section 2 for the Class D championship.
