Billies Fuzak Selected For 16U Development Games

BUFFALO, N.Y.-Coach Kraig Kurzanski and Williamsville South have another talented football player receiving national attention.

Junior defensive end Jake Fuzak has been selected to attend USA Football's 16U National Team Development Games in Towson, Md. He becomes the first area player ever to be selected for the Games.

Fuzak participated in the USA Football National Development game in Chicago, Ill. in April and was selected from his showing at that camp.

Fuzak has been in the Billies program for four years, and has started on the varsity under Kurzanski since his freshman season. He won All-Western New York Honorable Mention last season.

"Jake is a great young man with outstanding character and talent," Kurzanski said. "He is an exceptional player and will be a terrific player this upcoming fall, his junior season. He's just a great competitor. He plays from the whistle to the whistle. He's a great leader."

Fuzak will be one of more than 180 athletes participating in the event from across the country. He will have the chance to earn a roster spot on the U.S. National Team that will compete against Canada in the 2015 International Bowl in February. The Development Games are not considered an all-star event, according to USA Football. Players are chosen based on talent and character.

The event is July 21 through July 26 at Towson University.

USA Football scouts will evaluate the players and choose the National Team rosters. They will also compile lists of the top prospects which will be distributed to every college football program in the country. Current NCAA coaches serve as instructors in the Games.

Kurzanski thinks Fuzak's stock will be high. He has been in frequent contact with Northwestern, UCLA and a few other schools.

"I look at him now as a 16-year-old," Kurzanski said. "He has the chance to be a 20-year-old big, big man. It's interesting. His future is very bright. He carries a 92 average. He's a great student. He has a lot going for him." ‚Äč
