Little Rock, AR (Sports Network) - In a Sun Belt Conference matchup to close
out regular season play, John Gillon scored 24 points to lead the Arkansas-
Little Rock Trojans over their instate rivals the Arkansas State Red Wolves,
78-71, at Jack Stephens Center.
UALR (17-14, 11-8 Sun Belt) earned its second consecutive win after a four-
game slump thanks to 15-of-18 shooting from the free-throw line by Gillon.
Leroy Isler added 13 points in the win.
Arkansas State (18-11, 12-8) was led by Marcus Hooten who tallied 25 points
while hitting all three of his attempts from 3-point range. Trey Finn scored
14 points while Brandon Peterson pulled down 10 rebounds as the Red Wolves
lost their second in a row after a four-game win streak.
The Red Wolves led 35-32 at halftime after shooting 50.0 percent from the
field in the first half.
In the second half, the Trojans held Arkansas State to 36.0 percent shooting
and outscored them 46-36 to earn the second half, comeback victory.
UALR earned this win by executing at the free-throw line, making good on 29-
of-35 attempts from the stripe.
