Terre Haute, IN (Sports Network) - Richard Carter led all scorers with 15
points as the Drake Bulldogs notched a quality road win over the Indiana State
Sycamores, 67-56, in Missouri Valley Conference action at the Hulman Center.
Seth VanDeest added 14 points on 6-of-7 from the field for Drake (14-15, 7-10
MVC), which has won three in a row for the first time all season. Jordan
Clarke had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Ben Simons also
scored 10 points.
For Indiana State (17-12, 9-8), Jake Odum tallied 13 points and five assists,
RJ Mahurin netted 12 points and Dawon Cummings chipped in 10 points. The
Sycamores have now lost four of their last five contests.
Drake trailed by five with under five minutes to play in the first half, but
it ended the frame on an 11-0 run to take a 27-21 lead into intermission.
The Bulldogs improved from 42.9 percent field goal shooting in the first half
to 47.8 percent in the second half as they led by double-digits for most of
the final 20 minutes.
Indiana State shot just 34.8 percent from the field on the night, and it lost
the rebounding battle, 34-29.
