Denton, TX (Sports Network) - George Fant and Jamal Crook each scored 14
points as the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers outlasted the North Texas Mean
Green, 70-59, in a Sun Belt Conference battle at The Super Pit.
Brandon Harris added 10 points on 3-of-5 from 3-point range for WKU (13-11,
7-6 Sun Belt), which has won back-to-back games on the heels of three straight
losses.
For North Texas (8-17, 3-11), Alzee Williams scored 17 points, Jordan Williams
had 15 points, Tony Mitchell tallied 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Roger
Franklin netted 12 points. The other four players to take the floor for the
Mean Green combined for just one point.
Neither team shot greater than 40 percent from the field in the first half,
but WKU took a 27-24 lead into intermission by shooting 3-of-9 from 3-point
range.
The Hilltoppers pulled away after the break by making 50 percent of their
field goal attempts in the final 20 minutes, while North Texas shot only 11-
of-36 (.306) in the second half.
WKU held on to win despite shooting only 9-of-13 from the foul line.
